But driving is more than just performance numbers, ya know? It's feel. Now, I beat that LR3 offroad and it performed. Unfortunately, it turned off-roading from an active, intense participative sport to one of point and shoot. You pick the terrain, the LR3 optimizes itself for it. 4-wheel-independent suspension, very sophisticated air springs that act like a solid axle offroad, and a space-shuttle-like series of electronic goodies like locking diffs and all traction systems attached to a multi-spin wheel. When the LR3 was first introduced, I decided to make the leap to the new T3 platform and give it a try. I have quite a few miles offroad, and have enjoyed various SWB Jeeps and a Land Rover Discovery. A good comparison is the new Land Rovers (I know, not a performance car-but hang with me!). That is not at all attractive sounding to me. "You simply point the car where you want to go, and the various elements of the all wheel drive system make it happen." It's been known for a long time that weight went up significantly, but power did not. This would also give a longer runner length."less communicative, larger, heavier, slower" I would think totally separate with an LT1 style throttle body mounted verticaly on the side of the engine. Would the stock style manifold with 1 or 2 fuel injectors or a manifold that keeps both cylinders separate work better with fuel injection. The Edelbrock quit flow looks like it would be good but over 500 bucks. The bike has a 32amp charging system and pretty much nothing but a headlight so it should be fine once it is running.ĭoes anyone know of a quiet external fuel pump that is small, There is no way to run an internal fuel pump on this bike. The battery is a 300cca battery and no room for anything bigger unless I can find one of the new lithium batteries that would fit. I wonder if the battery would have enough power to run a fuel pump and keep the voltage high enough to keep sync while starting. What is the min voltage micro squirt will work at, this bike is an 1853cc with 10.7 compression and no compression releases so it pulls hard on the battery every compression stroke when starting and the voltage drops to ~10.8-11volts briefly during starting. I have a couple questions I was thinking through before I start building the bike. I am debating on a Mukuni carb for fuel and using micro squirt for everything else to keep the bike simple but the advantages of fuel injection would almost make it worth the effort. After a ton of jetting its close but I just can’t get it dead on everywhere with the carb on the bike an S&S super G. I did put the new cam in and rockers and boy she is staving for fuel at high rpms. I am getting back on this project, we just moved from MS back to NC and I have not had a chance to work on the bike much. I would really like to get the ignition up and running first and then add FI later. Will i need to run a crank sensor or can i do what i want with just a cam sensor. Of course a high pressure fuel pump, manifold, throttle body.ect. I was thinking of making a plate and using 2 hall sensors spaced 45* apart for the cam pickup,Īdd a Thermo couple to the rear cylinder head for temp, I could get creative and do something on the front primary pulley but space becomes a issue and the magnetic field from the stator. It would be very difficult to add A CPS as the Harleys that run them the crankshaft itself has marks milled into them This bike has a smooth crank. The engine has NO Crank position sensor, It does have a Cam wheel. Be able to Auto tune itself as i don't have easy access to a dyno. Temperature compensation for fuel based on engine heat, These air cooled motors can swing 100* from traffic to highway.ĥ. Add fuel for the NO2 with the injectors.Ĥ. I would like a window switch to activate the NO2 from 3000 to 5900rpm.ģ. (IE run more timing at part throttle and cut 4* on NO2)Ģ. A timing map that will change timing for load and be able to retard the Ignition for Nitrous. This is what i want to accomplish, It seems i can but i want to make sure before i start collecting all the parts.ġ. ![]() MY first concerns are will microsquirt work on this engine. ![]() ![]() I'm looking to do ignition first and fuel after i get that up and running. Also the ignition on these bikes are just a 2d curve no other adjustments possible or retard for nitrous ect. The S&S Carb just does not have enough adjustment and i am wanting to go with fuel injection. I have a custom chopper that has a S&S 113 engine, it is based on an EVO Harley engine, 45* air cooled v twin, Right now it has a carburetor and crane HI-4 ignition.
